For a leader, the essential component of peak performance is in finding a mentor and being a mentor

When I attended a conference last year, a speaker talked on Relationships that made a big difference in my own life.

He said: “You can greatly influence your life’s flight path by Relationships, some of them are lifelong and some seasonal. The premium fuel to succeed in life is the result of working hard to enter and develop premium lifelong relationships. Find inspiring people by being intentional about it; If you want to reach the next level, the best thing to do is to find someone who is already there. Because of your association with these premium people your life will also improve.

A place where you can give and not just take would be the best way to look at Relationships; Look out for opportunities where you can add value to the lives of premium people, don’t just take from them.

You can expect high level people to have flaws. If you are looking for a mentor don’t look for a perfect person. Idiosyncrasies and faults exist in high level people too like everyone else has, and so high level people can also fail to meet your expectations. Because the high level people succeeded in spite of their faults and not by absence of them, is the reason they are successful. You can also be encouraged to become a high level person even with your faults, after discover that your hero has faults too.”

Find a mentor in a growing upline. Work hard to establish trust to build a lifelong relationship. Bed rock of any relationship is communication and, therefore communicate with them regularly. If you can meet your mentor in person, find ways to do it regularly. It adds value. Always, leave more behind that you take from that relationship.

Ask these questions to yourself:

1. Do you have someone in your life as a mentor (a trusted coach)?

2. If not, why? Why have you not established a relationship with your mentor?

3. Do you stay in communication with your mentor and ask questions to find the answers? Every question has an answer.

4. In order to find solutions to your problems, have you established a master mind alliance with your mentor?

5. Do you have an accountability relationship with your mentor?

6. Are you truly honest with your mentor or, just to get the answer you are looking for you twist or embellish your real situation ?
